Veteran actor Segun Arinze has opened up on one thing he dislikes about acting.

According to him, he dislikes being typecast as an actor.

Speaking during an interview with QEDNG, Arinze expressed his desire to break free from being stereotyped as a “bad boy” and showcase his range as an actor.

Arinze emphasised the importance of evolution and growth in his craft, stating that being typecast kills the efficiency of an actor in executing more roles.

When asked if he was still being typecast in “bad boy” roles or if things had changed, he responded, “It has changed. I am coming into my own to prove that I am an actor, and this is what I live for.

“Now you know that I can play different roles. I hate being a stereotype. It kills off the actor. I don’t like stereotypes; I don’t like it. It never works for me. It may work for other actors, but for me, I don’t like being a stereotype. I like to see myself evolve in different roles”.

Segun also praised his colleagues, including veteran actor Olu Jacobs, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Ramsey Nouah, for successfully avoiding typecasting.

He admired their ability to grow and evolve in their careers.
