A Nigerian woman, Nneka Obani, has stated that women should not feel special if an ex attempts to crawl back into their lives after a breakup.

According to her, the reason a man comes back after a breakup is if he sees that the woman has made much progress in his absence.

She stated this on Friday in reaction to the story of a Facebook user, Mercy Kalu Ebe, who was dumped by her husband after years of supporting him financially and funding his lifestyle.

Mercy's husband dated her and left her to travel abroad where he stayed for 12 years. They got back together when he was deported.

"No man attempts to go back to a woman he initially abandoned if she is doing badly. The only reason he tries to crawl back into your life is if he sees you have made some serious progress in his absence," she wrote.

"So don't feel flattered if an ex husband or an ex boyfriend suddenly wants you back especially if you are no longer in the spot where he left you.

"There are two things involved;

“It's either he is coming back to dig gold or identify with a success that he had no stake in. Or He is coming back to you because you are the only one who can tolerate his bad behavior. He must have tried with countless women and they have rejected him, so he decided to return to you. You are not special.”
