Panic As Newly Constructed Female Hostel In Sokoto University Is Gutted By Fire

A fire broke out on Tuesday night, engulfing the female hostel at Sokoto State University (SSU).

It was gathered that the fire outbreak started at about 3:23 pm, razing the newly constructed female hostel.

Eyewitness told tour reporter that the affected hostel is part of the new structures constructed to solve the problem of inadequate accommodation for students in the university.

The cause of the fire incident is yet to be determined as of the time of this report.

“No students were in the hostel when the fire incident occurred, they had been relocated by the university authorities.

“The students who were occupying the newly constructed hostel had already been relocated to the old hostel”, a source told our reporter.

The students’ union president confirmed that firefighters arrived at the scene around 430 pm to stop the fire.
