The Lagos-based corps member, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, who went viral for criticizing the Tinubu-led administration has spoken out after facing intense criticism and online harassment.

In a video message, Raye reassured her followers that she was safe, saying, “Hi everyone, good morning. I’m actually very much okay. I’ve been getting messages like this and also comments, so I don’t want anyone to think that someone hijacked me or anything. No, I’m okay; I’m doing great.”

She explained her brief disappearance from social media, attributing it to uncertainty over handling the sudden surge in attention. However, she questioned why she should be the one to retreat while others continue spreading negativity online. “Why should I be the one to go MIA when there are stupid people on the internet?” she asked.

Raye also addressed the online bullying she has faced, revealing that the harassment has extended beyond social media. “I’ve been experiencing a lot of bullying, and it’s not just online. Last night, I experienced bullying offline as well,” she disclosed.

Criticizing those who focus on personal attacks instead of engaging in meaningful discussions about Nigeria’s challenges, she said, “How does my personal life affect your own living? What the government does actually affects you, and that’s what you should be tackling.”

She also clapped back at an individual who has allegedly dedicated his entire platform to slut-shaming her, challenging him to provide proof of his accusations. “Call one person that has slept with me and paid me money, and I will give you and him double the money in return,” she declared.

Despite the backlash, Raye remained defiant, asserting that Nigerians already know what needs to be done to address the country’s problems but lack the collective will to take action. “You guys already know what we need to do, but nobody wants to say it,” she stated.
