Toye Dominic, a 25-year-old farmer, has been found dead.
The man was discovered hanging from a tree in a forest in Alagbodagbo village, Ijebu Igbo, sparking shock and concern among locals.
It was gathered that a local hunter, Kareem Olawalose, stumbled upon the scene during a hunting expedition and immediately alerted the police.
According to CSP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, in a statement on Thursday, the discovery was made around 4:30 p.m.
Following the report, police officers arrived at the scene alongside villagers, including Dominic's elder brother, Joseph, who confirmed that the deceased had left for his farm that morning but never returned.
Investigations revealed that Dominic had left his farm tools behind before venturing further into the forest, where his body was later discovered hanging.
No suicide note was found, and his family expressed shock and disbelief over the situation.
Authorities have since transferred the body to the General Hospital in Ijebu Ode for further examination, while the police have pledged a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
Odutola encouraged the public to remain vigilant and stressed the importance of mental health awareness. She called for support for individuals experiencing emotional distress in order to prevent similar tragedies.
