A resident of Gbargada, Adamu Salihu, said the incident happened on Tuesday around 7:23pm when the herders were coming from Izom in Niger State and some criminals emerged from the bush and attacked him.
A herder, identified as Ahmadu Garba, was fatally stabbed, and his motorcycle was stolen by suspected criminals along the Dobi-Gbargada village in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
A resident of Gbargada, Adamu Salihu, said the incident happened on Tuesday around 7:23pm when the herders were coming from Izom in Niger State and some criminals emerged from the bush and attacked him.
He said the herder went to buy the motorcycle in Izom and was on his way back to Gbargada village when he was ambushed.
“He was returning from Izom in Niger State where he went to buy a brand new Bajaj motorcycle after he sold two of his cows. It was while on his way back that the criminals attacked and killed him,” he said.
He said some vigilantes from Gbargada village mobilised to the scene after they were alerted and evacuated the corpse in the company of the deceased’s kinsmen back home for burial.
The spokeswoman of the FCT police command, SP Adeh Josephine, was yet to confirm the incident as at the time of filing the report.
