Kanawa’s death comes less than a week after the same operation resulted in the death of a close associate of Bello Turji during a raid in Fakai.
A notorious bandit, Aminu Kanawa has been killed by the Nigerian army.
Before his death, Kanawa served as the deputy to infamous bandit leader Bello Turji.
Soldiers from Operation Hadarin Daji carried out the operation that led to Aminu’s death between January 20 and 21, 2025.
Kanawa’s death comes less than a week after the same operation resulted in the death of a close associate of Bello Turji during a raid in Fakai.
In a statement released by the spokesperson for Operation Hadarin Daji, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, it was revealed that in addition to Kanawa’s death, several of Turji’s close associates were injured. These included Dosso, Turji’s brother, and Danbokolo, another close ally of the bandit leader.
TRT Afrika Hausa reported that the soldiers also eliminated other key commanders in Bello Turji’s camp, including Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon-Saniya-Yafi-Bahaushe.
The soldiers also killed 24 other terrorists in Bello Turji’s camp located near Gebe and in areas spanning Isa and Gidan Rijiyah in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
