Two deadly bandit leaders, Abu Radde and Umar Black have surrendered their weapons and captives to the Nigerian Army.

This followed intense military operations in Katsina State.

According to a statement posted on the Nigerian Army’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the bandits turned in everything on January 19 in Batsari, Katsina State.

The post reads; “Following intense military operations by the combined forces of Op FASAN YANMA, bandit leaders Abu Radde and Umar Black, operating in Batsari and Safana LGAs in Katsina State have surrendered their arms and captives.

“This move marks a significant step towards ending banditry and criminality in the region.”

Accordingly to the post, the ceremony was attended by all relevant stakeholders, including military representatives, to ensure transparency throughout the process.

“The bandits handed over four AK47 rifles and 15 captives, comprising three males, eight females, and four children.”

The post further emphasized that the surrender was not a negotiation or peace meeting, but rather a crucial step towards the bandits’ complete disarmament and release of all kidnapped victims.

The Army confirmed that the surrendered weapons were in good condition and are now in the custody of the 17 Brigade.

“The 15 freed captives have been handed over to local government authorities for rehabilitation and aftercare,” the post added.
