Officers of the Ogun State Police Command have raised alarm after the swollen body of a 45-year-old tenant, Tolulope Olusanya, was discovered at Madojutimi Abiola Way in Abeokuta on Monday night, January 7.

The landlord of the compound, Adebesin Adebayo, had visited the Kemta police division to alert the police of the stench emanating from the swollen body of Olusanya's apartment, Adebayo and other residents suspect he may have committed su!cide.

Confirming the incident, the command's spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, said; “Worried about her well-being, the landlord went to her apartment and noticed a strong, unpleasant odour coming from inside. The door to her apartment was locked inside, prompting him to raise the alarm.”

Upon receiving the report, Odutola said detectives from the Kemta Division arrived at the scene and discovered that the apartment was still locked, and the foul odour persisted through the window.

“The officers broke into the apartment and found Olusanya’s body lying on the bed, swollen, suggesting that she had been deceased for some time,” Odutola added.

She added that efforts to transport her body to the nearest hospital were hindered by a lack of medical equipment to prevent potential infection.

Odutola further said attempts to collaborate with the local health authority and contact Olusanya’s family were unsuccessful, saying, “no immediate relatives could be reached.”

She, however, added that the scene was secured and cordoned off the area as police detectives continued their investigation.
