No fewer than six Nigerian soldiers have been confirmed injured after a drone strike by suspected terrorists on a military base in Borno State.

According to SaharaReporters, it was gathered that the terrorists attacked the Forward Operating Base in Wajiroko in the Damboa Local Government Area on Tuesday afternoon.

A soldier who witnessed the incident said they heard what sounded like a jet followed by a huge explosion.

He added that the terrorists had initially attacked the base shooting sporadically but were repelled by the troops.

A military signal obtained by SaharaReporters confirmed the incident.

The signal added that a gun truck belonging to the army was damaged after the terrorists used multiple drones to attack the base.

Nigeria has been battling with the insurgents in the North East region for barely two decades now.

The military has repeatedly claimed that the terrorists had been largely defeated and frequently underplays any losses.

The terror group has caused over 100,000 deaths and displaced millions of individuals mainly in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.
