VP Shettima Returns From Côte d’Ivoire, Advocates Collaboration For Africa’s Resource Wealth

It was learnt that Senator Shettima arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Wednesday night.

Nigeria's Vice President, Kashim Shettima has returned to has returned to the country following his participation in the inaugural International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources (SIREXE Expo) held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Although no official statement was issued about his return, it was learnt that Senator Shettima arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Wednesday night.

During his address at the summit, Vice President Shettima called for strengthened governance, enhanced transparency, and collaboration among African leaders and industry stakeholders to harness the continent’s resource wealth for sustainable development.

He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fostering an inclusive extractive industry guided by transparency, regional partnerships, and local capacity development.

The summit, themed “Policies and Strategies for the Sustainable Development of the Extractive and Energy Industries,” brought together leaders from across Africa to discuss innovative solutions for resource management and energy security.

Recall that Shettima left Abuja for Abidjan, on Wednesday morning, to attend the summit.

On arrival at the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Abidjan, the Vice President was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Diaspora of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, Mr. Kacou Houadja Léon Adom, and Minister of Mines, Oil and Energy, Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly.

Other dignitaries who came to receive Vice President Shettima from the Nigerian Embassy included Mrs. Itam A. Icha, Chargé d’Affaires; Mr. Abubakar L. Alhaji, Senior Counsellor; and Mrs. Assumpta M. Nansoh, First Secretary/Head of Chancery.
