Ikenga Ugochinyere, the member representing Ideato North and South Constituency in the  House of Representatives has expressed confidence that Gov Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State will emerge victorious if he runs for office again in 2027.

Ugochinyere said any plan to seize the federal allocation of Rivers State by forces in Abuja would cause a security crisis in the state.

He stated this while addressing members of his constituents in Akokwa, Ideato North local government area of Imo State.

He noted that the move by 27 Rivers state lawmakers seeking to take control of the state’s House of Assembly would not be possible. He explained that the 27 lawmakers defected to the  All Progressives Congress (APC) when there was no crisis in the party.

He disclosed that the intention of the lawmakers for seeking to take control of the House was to impeach Governor Fubara.

“Let me ask, if you seize the allocation to Rivers, can you guarantee security and payment of salaries to teachers and everyone?

“They want to make the place fail so that they can impeach the governor. But let me tell you, Fubara will contest and he will win in 2027
,” Ugochinyere said.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker called on the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun to take action and ensure justice is done on the Rivers State issue.
