South African Man Arrested For Murder Of Nigerian Man In Gauteng

Pyne, from Randburg, appeared at the Brakpan Magistrates' Court on Friday, November 22, 2024, facing charges of premeditated murder, three counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm and ammunition.

A 31-year-old South African man, Jaen-Lee Pyne has been arrested in connection with the killing of a Nigerian national, Uchenna Prince Ibeh, in Gauteng, South Africa.
 
Pyne, from Randburg, appeared at the Brakpan Magistrates' Court on Friday, November 22, 2024, facing charges of premeditated murder, three counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm and ammunition.
 
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in a statement at the weekend said the charges stem from an incident on the evening of 04 May 2024.
 
“It is alleged that Pyne and a companion met with four Nigerian men at the corner of Madley and Hamilton Street in Brakpan,” the statement read.
 
"During the encounter, an altercation ensued. Pyne reportedly drew a firearm and fired at the group, resulting in the d3ath of Uchenna Prince Ibeh. The other three victims sustained injuries and managed to seek medical attention at a nearby hospital.
 
"Community members alerted the police, leading to the opening of a case.
 
"Pyne was arrested on 18 November 2024 at the Heidelberg Magistrates' Court, where he was appearing in connection with another case involving charges of murder and attempted murder.
 
“The matter has been postponed to 02 December 2024 for a formal bail application.”
