Some gunmen, who are yet to be identified, but who are suspected to be cultists, have shot a disabled man to death in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The victim, identified as Mutiu Akinbami, a.k.a. Igor, was dropped dead at about 6:13 p.m. at the popular Brewery bus stop and Olomoore Junction of the metropolis.
According to an eyewitness who spoke to Daily Post, the assailants drove in a tinted Toyota Hilux and shot at Akinbami, who was riding on a motorcycle with his daughter.
It was gathered that the deceased was one of the immediate past Councilors at the Abeokuta North Local Government Area.
Some members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), who witnessed the incident, said his assailants had trailed him from his house located around the Olomoore Federal Housing Estate (FHE) and immediately made a detour at the Brewery after their mission was completed.
However, the news of Akinbami’s passing sparked conversations among several people in the Brewery and Olomoore Junction, with the majority asserting that, during his lifetime, he was a feared member of the Eiye secret cult.
Efforts to reach the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, at the time of filing this report proved abortive, as her number was not reachable.
