Bandits Reportedly Abduct Nursing Mother Delivering Ransom For Kidnapped Daughter In Katsina

The family is said to be in desperate need of help, facing unbearable hardship after this double tragedy.

Some suspected bandits have abducted the wife of a man called Nasiru Baro.

The woman who is a nursing mother of a six-month-old, was kidnapped when she went to deliver the ransom for their kidnapped daughter in Batsari Local Government Area, Katsina State.

According to a tweet by Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist in northwest Nigera on X on Friday, Baro’s wife went to deliver the ransom to secure the release of their daughter, Wasila Nasiru, who was abducted last week, but the bandits took her too and now claim they don’t have the child.

The family is said to be in desperate need of help, facing unbearable hardship after this double tragedy.

SaharaReporters contacted the state Police Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Sadeeq for comments, but he had not responded to text messages, calls, and WhatsApp messages sent to him at the time of filing the report.

“Nasiru Baro’s wife went to deliver the ransom for their kidnapped daughter, Wasila Nasiru, that was abducted last week but the bandits took her too and now claim they don’t have the child,” the journalist said.

“She left behind a 6-month-old baby, abandoned by the bandits in Wagini, Batsari LGA, Katsina State. Malam Nasiru Baro, struggling with poor health, is now left with 8 children and no way to support them since Wednesday morning.”
