Port Harcourt Helicopter Crash: Preliminary Report Of Accident Would Be Out In 30 Days – NSIB

The Sikorsky SK76 with registration 5NBQG, which was operated by East Wind Aviation, was en route from Port Harcourt Military Base (DNPM) to the Nuimantan oil rig.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has stated that the circumstances surrounding the crash of the Sikorsky SK76 helicopter, which was en route to Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, on Thursday, are still unclear.

The bureau said that a preliminary report of the accident would be out within 30 days

Daily Post reported that three people reportedly lost their lives on Thursday after the helicopter ditched into the waters

The accident occurred at 11:22 a.m. along the waterways.

The Sikorsky SK76 with registration 5NBQG, which was operated by East Wind Aviation, was en route from Port Harcourt Military Base (DNPM) to the Nuimantan oil rig.

NSIB Director General, Alex Badeh Jnr, told Channels Television that the helicopter crashed one kilometre to its destination.

He said, “The circumstances surrounding the crash remained unknown, a preliminary report of the accident would be out within 30 days.”

A total of eight persons were confirmed on board, but three bodies have been recovered.
