When contacted the Edo State Police Command who confirmed the attack said only three persons were killed.

Yamu Moses, the Public Relations Officer of the command, who spoke to newsmen in Benin City said the dead persons include one Police Inspector and two others.

Moses said an investigation into the incident is ongoing while efforts in collaboration with the military to apprehend the suspects are in progress.

But the locals who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity said the deceased police officer died on the spot.

They also said the expatriate later died in the hospital while the injured Sergeant is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

They added that the female staff said to be an accountant with the company, was still missing, suggesting that she must have been kidnapped by the gunmen.

The gunmen were alleged to have laid an ambush for the expatriate on the way to his base after the close of work on the fateful day.

Some Police Officers have reportedly been killed at a police post and checkpoint located at the community while some persons have also been kidnapped.
