Justice Coker ordered that a production warrant be issued for the arraignment of the defendants on Nov. 21.

The plea bargain hearing of convicted kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans was stalled on Thursday, at the Lagos High Court Sitting in Ikeja, due to his absence.

The prosecution counsel and Evans’s co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, were also absent.

Evans and his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka are standing trial on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, kidnapping and attempted murder preferred against them by Lagos Government.

At the last sitting of the court on May 11, the prosecution counsel, Yusuf Sule, told the court that the defendants had applied for a plea bargain agreement.

He further revealed that the plea bargain terms were being considered by the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Lawal Pedro, SAN.

However, when the case was brought up on Thursday, the counsel to Evans’s co-defendant, Nelson Onyejaka, who was present in court, expressed surprise that the prosecution and the first defendant’s counsel were absent.

Justice Coker ordered that a production warrant be issued for the arraignment of the defendants on Nov. 21. She also adjourned for a report on the plea bargain outcome.
