A student of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Ololade Ayelabola, has achieved a major feat as she breaks the Guinness World Record for the longest distance walked on a catwalk.

The model achieved an impressive 130.62 km, completing 2,058 laps at the university’s Indoor Sports Centre.

Ayelabola surpassed the 41-year-old record of 114.4 km, set by Roberta Brown and Lorraine McCourt in Ireland in 1983. Initially targeting 120 km over 96 hours, she exceeded her goal from October 1st to 5th, 2024.

Beyond breaking a record, Ayelabola aimed to challenge fashion industry stereotypes and promote inclusivity.

Previously rejected from fashion shows due to her height, she created a platform for models of all appearances.

On Instagram, Ayelabola shared her triumph: “I DID IT EVERYONE! There were difficulties, but I stood through it. There were pains, but I refused to cower.”
