Police Arrest Suspected Vandal, Recover 95 Stolen Rail Track Components In Bauchi

The spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, September 26, 2024, said the suspect was arrested following credible information provided by Bauchi Scraps and Wastes Dealers Association.

A 29-year-old suspected vandal identified as Heli Hassan, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command.

During the arrest, the authorities recovered 95 stolen rail track components from the suspect.  
 
The spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, September 26, 2024, said the suspect was arrested following credible information provided by Bauchi Scraps and Wastes Dealers Association.
 
“The Bauchi State Police Command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring public safety and security. In a recent development, one suspect has been apprehended and 95 stolen rail line components have been successfully recovered
,” the statement read.
 
“Acting on credible information provided by the Bauchi Scraps and Wastes Dealers Association, the Command arrested Heli Hassan, 29 years of age, and seized 95 rail track components
 
"The suspect confessed to conspired with one Jacob Sulaiman (currently at large) to vandalize and steal critical rail track components on the 24th of September, 2024, at about 2300 hours, in the vicinity of Inkil quarters, Bauchi.
 
"This distressing incident poses a substantial threat to public safety and represents a severe act of economic sabotage as it pertains to a crucial infrastructure linking the Inkil community with Gombe State.
 
"The case has been meticulously documented for a comprehensive investigation, and measures are underway to apprehend Jacob Sulaiman, who remains at large.
 
"This achievement underscores the Command's resolute dedication to safeguarding public assets and ensuring citizens' safety through collaborative community efforts.
