To worsen it, they go ahead and do the needful for the second wife, without doing the same for the first wife which breeds jealousy.

A Nigerian Muslim cleric, Bello Muhammed Tahir has taken to Facebook to advise men who take second wives without fulfilling all the promises they made to their first wives.

He stated that most of them owe their first wives the necessary carriages and then proceed to take another wife without fulfilling their obligations.

To worsen it, they go ahead and do the needful for the second wife, without doing the same for the first wife which breeds jealousy.

“You can’t be owing your wife the necessary carriages and you proceed to taking a second wife,” he wrote in a post on Tuesday, September 24

''You promised her and her family that you would buy her boxes and other things as soon as you have the means and they understood with you.

You then found a sister appealing as a prospective second wife, and you are marrying her?

As if that wasn’t enough, you got for her some of those things you promised your wife that you are yet to fulfill.

And when she talks now, we would be quick to label it jealousy or that she doesn’t want a second wife.

There are some of us who are not qualified to have a wife, let alone dualize. Allahumma barik.''
