The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that the deceased was identified as Lawan Adamu.
The Nigeria Police Force, Yobe State Command has reported that the body of a 25-year-old man murdered by unknown persons has been recovered in the Nayi-Nawa area of Damaturu.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that the deceased was identified as Lawan Adamu.
“On September 15, at about 2230hrs, ‘A’ Division Police Headquarters, Damaturu, received a distress call reporting a corpse with deep cuts. Police arrived to find the victim with deep throat cuts and multiple stab wounds. A blood-stained knife was recovered at the scene.
“The body was removed to General Hospital Damaturu, where it was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. The corpse has been deposited at the hospital morgue,” Abdulkarim said.
According to him deliberate efforts by operatives of ‘A’ Division led to the arrest of a prime suspect, one Yunusa Isa (AKA Abba) aged 24.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, has directed detectives to expand their investigation to unravel the circumstances behind the incident,” he added.
The Command assured the public that the investigation will be swift and thorough as justice will certainly be served accordingly.
