Senator Monday Okpebholo, the 2024 gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo has signed the Peace Accord, ahead of the forthcoming polls.

Speaking after 16 other party chairmen and candidates had signed without Okpebholo and Ighodalo, the Chairman of the National Peace Committee, former Head of State, Abdulsalam Abubakar, said the PDP refused to sign the Peace Accord until its conditions and issues concerning transparency of the election are addressed.
On its X handle, Thursday afternoon, APC announced that its candidate has signed the Peace Accord.
“Our candidate, Senator Monday Okpebho, has officially signed the peace accord, ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State,” APC wrote.
The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, Naija News reported, said his party and the party’s candidate would not be part of Peace Accord signing until the party’s supporters arrested by the Police are released.

On his X handle, on Wednesday, APC candidate called on Edo citizens to vote him for a greater opportunity.
“Edo State, the time is now! We are just days away from making history. This is our chance to bring the change we deserve—one that puts the people first. Come out on September 21st and let your vote speak for a brighter future.
“Together, we will build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Edo for everyone. Don’t let this moment pass by—be a part of the movement!” Senator Okpebholo wrote.
