According to him, the family paid N35m ransom, bought 6 brand new motorcycles with full tanks, 12 bags of rice, 5 beans, cartons of whiskey, hard drugs and other items to secure the release of their loved one.
A Nigerian journalist, Jaafar Jaafar, has narrated how a family were asked to pay a huge ransom and supply other things to criminal bandits who abducted their relative.
According to him, the family paid N35m ransom, bought 6 brand new motorcycles with full tanks, 12 bags of rice, 5 beans, cartons of whiskey, hard drugs and other items to secure the release of their loved one.
"A friend yesterday narrated a painful story of how his family paid through their nose to secure the release of a relative from bandits," he said in a post on Wednesday.
"Apart from payment of N35m cash as ransom, they also delivered – as demanded – the following: 6 brand new motorcycles (with full tank) 4 cartons of whiskey 10 packets of Tramadol 1 bag Indian Hemp 1 carton of Aspen cigarette 12 bags of rice (50kg) 10 bags of maize (100kg) 5 bags of beans (100kg) 1 25-litre jerry can of groundnut oil 1 25-litre jerry can of palm oil 1 carton of seasoning 10 packets of paracetamol 10 packets of chloroquine
“Although they sought security clearance before they started the journey, soldiers detained them midway. They later allowed them to proceed to the bandits’ enclace after profiling. Well, even soldiers, police, customs paid ransom to secure release of their kidnapped personnel.”
