Maiduguri Flood: Nigerians React As Vice President Kashim Shettima Promises Victims 50 Trucks Of Rice

Shettima on the directive of President Tinubu, visited Maiduguri on Tuesday to sympathize with thousands of people who were displaced following the incident.

Following Vice President Kashim Shettima’s announcement that the Federal Government has approved 50 trucks of rice for the victims of the severe flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State, there have been various reactions from Nigerians.

Shettima on the directive of President Tinubu, visited Maiduguri on Tuesday to sympathize with thousands of people who were displaced following the incident.
 
Addressing the victims taking refuge at Bakassi IDP camp, Shettima enjoined them to take what befell them as an act of God.
 
The VP in the company of the state governor and other dignitaries were ferried in a military truck to gain access to Shehu of Borno whose palace was consumed by the disaster.
 
While addressing the Borno Monarch, Shettima offered his sympathy to the Emirate Council.
 
“We are here at the palace to sympathize with you and the Emirate over the unfortunate incident,”
he said.
 
“The Federal Government has approved 50 trucks of rice which are now on the way to Maiduguri for onward distribution for the victims.”

 
Commenting on the report, one Cross wrote: “Lmaoooooo! Bruhhh! These people can actually give you rice if you complain of high electricity tariff.”
 
Soyinka wrote: “Insecurity- give them rice Inflation- give them rice Fuel scarcity- give them rice Flood - give them rice Protest for better governance- give them rice High dollar rate- give them rice.”
