Following an intelligence-driven operation, her partially decomposed body was located in the bushes along the R501 road near Blybank, Carletonville on Sunday, September 8.
The lifeless body of a 26-year-old South African woman, Nomsa Jass, who was reported missing has been discovered in the bushes.
Jass, who was last seen leaving her workplace in Potchefstroom, North West Province of South Africa on August 25, 2024, was reported missing the following day.
Her vehicle, a Volkswagen Polo Vivo, was found abandoned at a mall in Springs, Gauteng on August 28.
Following an intelligence-driven operation, her partially decomposed body was located in the bushes along the R501 road near Blybank, Carletonville on Sunday, September 8.
The provincial police spokesperson, Col Amanda Funani, who confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, September 9, said that a 29-year-old Mozambican national has been arrested in connection with her murder.
“Her [Jass] Volkswagen Polo Vivo vehicle was found at a mall in Springs, Gauteng, on August 28,” Funani said.
"An intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest of the suspect and the partially decomposed body of Nomsa was discovered on Sunday in the bushes along the R501 road at Blybank, in Carletonville [on the West Rand]
“The 29-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with kidnapping, robbery and murder.
"Investigations into the matter, including a search for the other suspect are underway.”
The suspect is expected to appear before the Oberlhozer Magistrates' Court in Carletonville on Tuesday, 10 September 2024.
