Two days after the ransom was paid, the kidnappers ceased communication with the family.
New details have emerged on the killing of a 19-year-old student, Anas Zubairu by kidnappers in Nasarawa State.
Zubairu was kidnapped last Friday evening around 6 p.m. in Lafia and killed by his abductors after ransom payment.
According to Daily Trust, the family of the deceased paid N17m ransom for his release.
The publication disclosed that Zubairu, a student at a Moroccan university, was on holiday visiting family when he was abducted.
After spending a few hours with his family, he drove out and parked his car to secure the gate before driving to his house. It was at this point that the kidnappers, who had concealed themselves nearby, shot him in the left shoulder.
A close relative, who requested anonymity, told the publication that after Zubairu was shot, the kidnappers took him to an undisclosed location.
Five days later, the abductors contacted the family, demanding N30 million in ransom. Following negotiations, the ransom was reduced to N17 million, which the family paid.
However, two days after the ransom was paid, the kidnappers ceased communication with the family.
Early Sunday morning, they informed the family that Zubairu had been killed.
