The Chairman, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Rivers State District, Israel Pepple confirmed the kidnap.
At least 10 travelers have been abducted by unknown gunmen suspected to be sea pirates.
The travelers were kidnapped along the Bonny-Port Harcourt waterway.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday.
The Chairman, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Rivers State District, Israel Pepple, while confirming the incident said, “It is not a rumour, it is real. Ten persons have been kidnapped this morning coming from Bonny to Port Harcourt. We’ve reported to the security agencies.”
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, said he had yet to be briefed on the matter but promised to revert with more information.
