According to locals, efforts to reach the vigilantes during the attack proved abortive as the men on duty were not taking their calls, apparently due to the heavy gunfire by the bandits.
On Thursday night, August 29, some suspected bandits, stormed Zone A (Back of Primary School) in the Ushafa community of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, killing a man identified as Mr Felix Chuks and leaving with his entire family.
According to Daily Post, it was gathered that the gunmen stormed the area around midnight with heavy gunfire.
According to locals, efforts to reach the vigilantes during the attack proved abortive as the men on duty were not taking their calls, apparently due to the heavy gunfire by the bandits.
It could not, however, be established why the man was killed, but there are suggestions he might have been struggling with the bandits.
“The bandits came to the area around midnight when everyone was asleep. It looks like the man was not cooperating with them, which is why they killed him,” a source told AFRIPOST.
Back of Primary School in Ushafa is notorious for various attacks, as a similar incident happened some months ago when bandits stormed the area, killing a man and abducting his pregnant wife and children.
Recall that no arrest has been made since the last abduction.
Efforts to reach the FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, failed as her mobile line was constantly engaged.
Meanwhile, an enlarged Ushafa community meeting is currently ongoing at the time this report was filed.
The emergency meeting was called to address the current incident.
