Gunmen Kill One, Abduct Two Others In Nasarawa

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, August 27, said operatives have launched a manhunt for the gunmen.

One person has been killed while two others were abducted by gunmen who attacked Gadabuke community, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The gunmen invaded the residence of one Agaba Yakubu in the early hours of Monday, August 26, 2024, shot one Yakubu Garba and abducted two others.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, August 27, said operatives have launched a manhunt for the gunmen.

According to Nansel, the police officers in the division mobilised to the scene of the incident and recovered the corpse of the victim before handing it over to his family.

''On (Sunday) August 25 at about 2 am, a distress call was received by the Divisional Police Officer of Toto Division that the residence of one Agaba Yakubu of Gadabuke was invaded by unknown gunmen where one Garba Yakubu was shot and two others abducted," the PPRO stated.

“Upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of Toto Division immediately mobilised operatives to the scene.

“The corpse of the victim was recovered and later released to his family for burial under Islamic rites."


Nansel noted that the police were on the trail of the gunmen.

He stressed that police officers had been mobilised to rescue the abducted persons while stating that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

“We are on the trail of the gunmen. The CP has mobilised police officers to rescue the abducted victims and to ensure that the attackers are brought to justice,
” he added.
