The national burial committee announced this in Abuja shortly after its inauguration by the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.
Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu
The deceased President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu will be laid to rest on November 1.
The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo had earlier announced, following a meeting at its National Headquarters, that Iwuanyanwu would be buried on September 25, 2024.
The Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ambassador Okey Emuchay, disclosed this earlier when he led the executive committee members in signing the condolence register opened in honour of their former leader.
However, the national burial committee has announced a new burial announcement in Abuja.
This comes shortly following its establishment by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma.
The inauguration took place on Tuesday in Abuja. It included various stakeholders from the Southeast, including current and former senators.
Recall that Iwuanyanwu, a prominent businessman and politician recognized for his substantial contributions across multiple sectors in the country, passed away on July 25.
In a briefing to the press after the committee’s formation, Uzodinma, who also serves as the Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, stated that the committee was created to ensure that the late President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo receives a dignified burial.
“The national committee for the burial of our great leader, Iwuanyanwu, the immediate past President-General of Ndigbo has been constituted.
“The whole idea is to give him a very befitting burial that his status deserves,” he said.
