Fire Razes Two Churches, Furniture Shop In Ibadan

The Oyo State Fire Service confirmed the incident, adding that the quick intervention of firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

There was a fire outbreak on Tuesday, August 20, leading to the destruction of two churches in the Felele area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The fire also affected a furniture shop.

The Oyo State Fire Service confirmed the incident, adding that the quick intervention of firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

“The fire, which occurred at No. 51, Debo Plaza, opposite Lam Adesina Junction, Felele, Ibadan, affected a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and New Covenant Church, as well as a furniture shop,”
the fire service statement reads.

The General Manager of the Fire Service, Yemi Akinyinka, added that the fire mostly affected plastic chairs and PVC materials used for ceiling decorations, which were completely burnt.
