The officers were reportedly chasing a Mercedes-Benz vehicle suspected to be driven by individuals allegedly engaged in internet fraud, commonly referred to as 'Yahoo boys'.
According to a video shared by Twitter user @hope_drifter, the police vehicle overturned while pursuing the Benz in Rayfield, Jos. The video also shows the police car's inscription, 'DOPS Patrol-3, Plateau State Command'.
The video shows a police officer, covered in blood and wearing his uniform, sitting on a curb and clutching his right hand, which appears to be injured or broken.
A voice in the background can be heard speaking in Hausa, confirming that the “officer's hand was broken in the accident”.
However, when SaharaReporters attempted to reach the police command's spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo, for comment, he did not answer calls or respond to text messages.
