INEC Holds Crucial Security Meeting Ahead Of Ondo, Edo Governorship Elections (Photos)

The commission said the meeting was to strategize and plan for the forthcoming governorship elections as well as bye-elections in some constituencies.

A crucial meeting was held between the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and heads of security agencies on Wednesday, ahead of the forthcoming Edo and Ondo State gubernatorial polls.

In a terse statement issued via its official X handle, the commission said the meeting was to strategize and plan for the forthcoming governorship elections as well as bye-elections in some constituencies.

“Hon. Chairman INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, with members of the Commission, held a crucial meeting with members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) at the Commission’s conference room in Abuja. The focus of the meeting was to strategize and plan for the upcoming #EdoDecides2024 and #OndoDecides2024 Governorship Elections, as well as by-elections in constituencies where vacancies have been announced across various states,” the statement reads.
