According to his family, Abubakar was an innocent bystander, struck by a stray bullet in the neck while on his way to visit his employer.

A Nigerian youth, Abubakar Sidiq, is currently fighting for his life in hospital, according to a report by SaharaReporters.

He is fighting for his life after being shot by Nigerian Army personnel on Monday in Zaria, Kaduna State, during the #EndBadGovernance protest.

According to his family, Abubakar was an innocent bystander, struck by a stray bullet in the neck while on his way to visit his employer.

A disturbing video obtained by SaharaReporters shows Abubakar writhing in agony on a hospital bed, highlighting the severity of his condition.

In a heart-wrenching video, Abubakar Sidiq expressed his distress and feeling of abandonment by the Nigerian Army authorities, who he holds responsible for his plight.

He revealed that his family is struggling to cover his medical expenses, and without urgent assistance, he fears for his life.

He said, “I was working in a bakery, but for two days we were off. On Monday, I suggested that we go and greet our boss and ask for some bread. As we were going, while trying to cross the road, they started shooting at us.

“I told Samaila (referring to his friend) that we should go back. Within a minute, I found myself lying down. While I tried to get up, I was unable to. It was my friend Samaila who came to my rescue and took me away from the scene.

“My friend started shouting for help and a man came to assist us and brought me to the hospital. There, they cleaned up the blood and took me back home while I was still in pain.

“Some good Samaritans suggested that I should be taken to Chika, while others recommended Husasa. I don’t even know where I am. It was yesterday that they brought me here (at the hospital), after I was shot on Monday.

“I was shot in the neck, and the bullet exited from the other side. Since the incident, the government has refused to accept responsibility, and no official has come forward to address the situation.

“It was my friend who went home to get money and pay for my medical bill before the medical personnel started treating me.”

“I am appealing to the general public to come to my aid and help save my life. I am in pain and unable to afford the medication I need. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated,”
he narrated.

SaharaReporters previously reported the tragic death of 16-year-old Ismail Mohammed, killed by Nigerian Army troops during the #EndBadGovernance protests in Kaduna under President Bola Tinubu's administration.

His family received a N300,000 compensation."

Army spokesman, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu stated that the death of the teenage boy was due to a warning shot fired by troops to enforce the state government's curfew.
