Arise TV news anchor, Rufai Oseni has expressed displeasure over the new visa regulations for Nigerians travelling to the United Arab Emirates.

The United Arab Emirates on Monday, July 15, lifted a 21-month-long visa ban on Nigerians and introduced new rules requiring digital verification for Nigerian passport holders seeking its visas.

One of the new requirements is obtaining a document verification number (DVN).

According to the DV website, the process is a specialised service designed to authenticate and verify documentation essential for visa applications to the UAE.

The DVN costs a non-refundable ₦640,000 excluding VAT for each application. This does not include the visa fee which must be paid by credit card at the UAE visa centre in Abuja.

The DVN is only valid for 14 days. In addition to obtaining a UAE visa, Nigerians are required to provide proof of a six-month bank statement with a minimum balance of $10,000.

Reacting to the new rules, Oseni, wrote on X.

''Govt Dey make mouth ontop lifting of visa ban and Dubai Dey ask for minimum of 10k dollars and dem wan collect 640k, na handicap be dat oo

So the UAE wants to collect 640k from Nigerians for Visa. Hahahahah.''
