Gunmen Kidnap Nigerian Navy Officer, Seven Others In Akwa Ibom

Timfon John said that the state Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, led a team of officers to the community after being briefed about the development.

Gunmen have reportedly abducted eight people, including a Nigerian Navy officer, in the Ibaka community of Mbo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State.

The victims were reportedly abducted at the Classic Point Hotel in Ibaka on Monday night.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, Timfon John, said that the state Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, led a team of officers to the community after being briefed about the development.

“When the police got the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, led a team of security personnel to the community.

"I assure you that with that visit by the CP and other strategic approaches, normalcy will return,”
she said.
