Welder Nabbed For Allegedly Kidnapping A Prophetess In Cross River

According to her, their offences ranged from kidnapping, rape, armed robbery, cultism to unlawful possession of firearms, among others.

On Wednesday, July 10, the Cross River State Police Command paraded a welder identified as Oliver for alleged kidnapping a prophetess, Uduak Emmanuel alongside 19 others for various crimes.

Briefing newsmen at the state Police Command Headquarters in Calabar, Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, said the 20 suspects were arrested for various crimes within four months.

According to her, their offences ranged from kidnapping, rape, armed robbery, cultism to unlawful possession of firearms, among others.

According to Ugbo, of the 20 suspects arrested, 14 have been charged to court while the remaining would also be charged as soon as investigations were concluded.

She further explained that 14 persons were arrested over cult related activities, three for armed robbery, others for rape, kidnapping and unlawful possession of firearms while items recovered includes phones, laptops, locally made pistol, criminal charms Indian hemp amongst others.

In a related development, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Augustine Grimah presented 17 cheques of over N43 million to families of deceased police officers.

Augustine urged the families not to allow the money bring wrangling among them, rather it should keep them united and used judiciously.
