A Nigerian man has killed his friend while fighting over a phone.
The young man has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command.
Mohammed Isah was arrested for the killing of Nurudeen Nuhu in the Abattoir area of Kwata Tayi village, suburbs of Minna, the state capital, over an issue related to a phone, last Saturday.
It was gathered that Nurudeen, from Anguwan-Daji area, was stabbed to death by Mohammed Isah, from the Anguwan-Biri area, both suburbs of Minna, during a fight over a phone.
It was learnt that during the scuffle, Mohammed allegedly thrust a knife into his friend Nurudeen’s abdomen, causing him to fall to the ground.
The deceased was rushed to the hospital for medical attention, where he was declared dead.
The police, through the Public Relations Officer (PRO) SP Wasiu Abiodun, explained that on 29/06/2024 at about 10 AM, it was reported at GRA Division that there was a fight between Mohammed Isah of Angwan-Biri and Nurudeen Nuhu of Angwan-Daji at the Abattoir area of Kwata Tayi village over a phone issue.
“During the fight, Mohammed Isah allegedly stabbed Nurudeen with a knife in the stomach. Police operatives attached to the Division moved to the scene and rushed the victim to the General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.”
The PRO said Mohammed Isah was arrested, and a preliminary investigation is ongoing.
“He will soon be transferred to SCID for further investigation and prosecution,” Abiodun stated.
He further added that police patrol teams have been stationed in the area for further monitoring of the situation, as normalcy has been restored.
