According to him, the development had adversely impacted not just the quality of service to its customers but also its revenue.

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has revealed that a suspected vandal was electrocuted while attempting to vandalize its facility near Missionary Avenue, Coal Camp, Enugu, on Friday.

The Head of Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

According to the statement, it is presumed that power supply must have been restored while the deceased was cutting the armored cables, which resulted in him being electrocuted in the early hours of Friday.

Ezeh described the incident as tragic and very unfortunate.

He lamented the increasing rate at which vandals attack electricity installations within EEDC’s network daily.

According to him, the development had adversely impacted not just the quality of service to its customers but also its revenue.

He further said that vandalism has been a big challenge to the company, noting that there is no way the issue can be addressed without the support of critical stakeholders.

“It is a battle we all have to fight collectively because once these transformers are vandalized, customers who are served by the installation will be greatly affected,”
Ezeh said.
