Fadipe was apprehended for allegedly vandalising a government primary school building at Ilaje-Area, Ilesa, Osun State.
A 40-year-old man, Jide Fadipe has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun State Command, for alleged vandalism.
Fadipe who is a resident of Ilaje-Area, BJ4 Ilesa in Osun, according to a statement by the NSCDC Commandant, Michael Adaralewa was apprehended for allegedly vandalising a government primary school building at Ilaje-Area, Ilesa, Osun State.
In the statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Command, Adeleke Kehinde on Friday in Osogbo, Commandant Adaralewa, said a member of the public from Ilesa earlier reported to the command that some unscrupulous elements had been vandalising the school building by removing the iron sheets and other valuables in the school.
“The command then subsequently mounted surveillance around the school area to apprehend the perpetrators.
“On Tuesday, 4th June 2024, the suspect was seen around 5am, removing the roofing sheets. He, thereafter, moved the stolen items down to his house and was apprehended while he was trying to sell the materials to metal scraps buyers in Ilesa, Osun State.”
Commandant Adaralewa assured members of the public that the suspect would face the full wrath of the law, to serve as a deterrent to others who are fond of destroying government property.
He said his crime contravened Section 451 of the Criminal Code law Cap 34, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, which states that “any person who wilfully and unlawfully destroys or damages any property is guilty of an offence and is liable.”
