Removal of Track Fastening Clips by Vandals Caused Abuja-Kaduna Technical Hitch – NRC

Recall that a traveling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed at Asha station, leaving many passengers stranded in the Federal Capital territory, FCT on Wednesday.

 
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has revealed why Abuja-Kaduna bound train derailed on Wednesday evening.
 
NRC said the removal of the track fastening clips by vandals resulted in the technical hitch.
 
The Deputy Director of Public Relations, Yakub Mahmood, in a statement on Wednesday, explained that the vandals had removed the track fastening clips leading to the derailment at Asham Railway Station in Kaduna State.
 
He assured that the NRC management remains resolute towards ensuring the safety of our valued passengers in the entire system, saying that the minor hitch is attributed to the removal of track fastening clips by vandals.
 
Recall that a traveling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed at Asha station, leaving many passengers stranded in the Federal Capital territory, FCT on Wednesday.
 
Mahmood explained that all passengers on board were safely returned to Abuja, saying that their tickets remain valid for a subsequent journey within two weeks.
 
He further explained that the NRC Management also apologized for the inconvenience caused, assuring that it remains committed to ensuring the safety of its passengers.
 
According to him, “For operational reasons, the first train from Kaduna (Rigasa) scheduled for 08.00hours will be canceled on Thursday, June 6, 2024 only, while all other train services will run as scheduled.”
 
He added that NRC Management deeply regret the inconveniences that the technical hitch might have caused their esteemed passengers and condemned the vandalism, assuring that it is working to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
