A family member who preferred anonymity for security reasons, told our reporter on telephone that the bandits’ leader had warned the late Sarkin Hausawa’s son to stay away from the new bride who hails from Zamfara State.
According to the source, the late Safiyanu met his second wife in Kagarko town and they started dating, but when the bandits’ leader, who was her boyfriend, got wind of the relationship, he warned Safiyanu to withdraw.
“After the marriage, the bride refused to submit to him, until one of the husband’s friends waded into the matter, but the bandits came the next day and killed him.
“However, the new wife left her matrimonial home the day after her husband was killed by the bandits, which has led the family to be suspicious as her whereabouts is still unknown.”
He recalled how the 46-year-old mother of the deceased – Asabe, begged the bandits to spare her son but they insisted and killed him in the presence of the mother.
A relation identified as Saleh also recalled how the deceased got married to his second wife in Zamfara State barely a week before he was killed.
