The love birds were dragged to the court sitting at Rijiyar Lemo in Fagge LGA by Aisha and were charged for stealing and accepting stolen items.
A couple, Nura Musbahu and Fatima Lawal, have been remanded by a Shari’a Court in Kano State for allegedly stealing wedding gifts, specifically kayan lefe, which belonged to Nura's sister, Aisha.
Daily Post reports that Kayan lefe is a Hausa tradition of buying expensive gift items by a groom for his bride and formally presenting it to her by his family.
The love birds were dragged to the court sitting at Rijiyar Lemo in Fagge LGA by Aisha and were charged for stealing and accepting stolen items.
When the court officer, Usman Idris Shu’aibu Dala read the charges to them, Musbahu pleaded guilty.
His fiancée, however, admitted that only two items were given to her, which she presented to the court.
Khadi Danbaba thereafter ordered their remand at a correctional centre until June 5, 2024, and directed that their parents appear before the court.
