A video of Ms Yesufu sitting while others at the event stood up for the recitation of the anthem, has made the rounds on social media.

 

Aisha Yesufu, the popular Nigerian activist, has publicly rejected the newly adopted national anthem.

She rejected the anthem and chose to sit during its recitation at a recent event.

Yesufu had shared the video of her protest with the caption #NotMyNationalAnthem on her X account on Friday. 

This move comes after President Bola Tinubu signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law, reinstating the old anthem "Nigeria, We Hail Thee"

Her disposition indicated that she is displeased with the recent reintroduction of the old National anthem.
