Kano: Bayero Will Not Lead Friday Prayers at Central Mosque – Commissioner of Police

The Police noted that the ‘false information’ is being circulated on social media with a view to cause confusion in the Ancient City.

 
The Kano State Police Command has made clarifications concerning Friday prayers.
 
The Police said Alhaji Aminu Bayero, the deposed 15th Emir, will not lead Friday prayers at the Central Mosque.
 
The Police noted that the ‘false information’ is being circulated on social media with a view to cause confusion in the Ancient City.
 
The Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), explained that Bayero would observe his Friday prayers in the mosque within the Nassarawa Palace, where he currently resides.
 
The CP said, “The police and other state security agencies will provide robust security at the Emir’s Palace, where Emir Muhammad Sanusi II is expected to lead the Jummah prayers.”
 
The Police urged the general public to disregard false reports and misinformation circulating on social media and go about their activities without fear of molestation or intimidation.
 
The CP added that the Police would continue to provide necessary security that will enable residents observe their Friday congressional prayers peacefully without threats to their lives and property.
 
He urged residents to volunteer credible information on the movement of dubious characters for prompt action for the sustenance of peaceful coexistence in the state.
