Biafra Day: Streets, Shops Locked as Imo Residents Observe IPOB Sit-at-Home Order

It was learnt that shops, markets, and public and private offices were closed.

 
Residents of Owerri, Imo state have observed the sit-at-home ordered by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
 
Economic activities were halted on Thursday in Owerri, Imo State, as residents stayed indoors in compliance with the sit-at-home order.
 
This is coming despite assurances from the police of their safety.
 
It was learnt that shops, markets, and public and private offices were closed.
 
Recall that IPOB had ordered residents of the Southeast to sit-at-home to mark Biafra Day.
 
IPOB had scheduled May 30 as a day to remember those who paid the supreme price during the Biafra civil war.
 
In its order, IPOB also cautioned the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, against conducting its examination in the Southeast today, Thursday.
