A UK-based Nigerian man, Jerome Samson, has taken to the X platform to lament about the hardship being experienced in the country.

He appealed to fellow Nigerians living abroad to support their friends and family members back home as the economic situation of Nigeria is extremely bad, with many people plunged into abject poverty overnight.

Jerome, who stated this in a post on Monday, May 27, said he wouldn't have known just how bad the is if he hadn't visited Nigeria

“I just got back from Nigeria yesterday, my people, things are EXTREMELY bad. I kept asking ‘how are you guys surviving? Abeg do your very best to support family and friends back home if you can. I’m beyond shocked that there are people still defending the current govt,” he wrote.

"If I didn’t visit home, I would have still continued to live in total oblivion, the trip was a big eye opener

“The flip is life threatening, people are barely getting bye I am still terrified of my 3days experience, families have been plunged into abject poverty over night.”
