Spokesperson of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, May 25, 2024, said the suspects, Ahmed Audu and Adebayo Abayomi, confessed to the crime.
The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended two suspected kidnappers who had threatened to abduct a 52-year-old businessman and his family members unless he paid them money.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, May 25, 2024, said the suspects, Ahmed Audu and Adebayo Abayomi, confessed to the crime.
“On 16/05/24 at about 1100hrs, one Dauda Adamu ‘m’ 52yrs of Zadau village B/Kudu LGA reported at B/Kudu Division that, unknown persons called him on the phone with GSM No. 07041160745 and threatened him to give them money or else the risk of being kidnapped together with his family,” the statement read.
"Upon receipt of the report, Policemen attached to the B/Kudu Division swung into action.
"On 19/05/24, following a tip-off, one Ahmed Audu ‘m’ aged 27yrs of Basirka town, Gwaram LGA and one Adebayo Abayomi ‘m’ 26yrs of Ogigi village Ijumu LGA of Kogi state, were arrested and brought to the Station for investigation.
"Consequently, the suspects were transferred to SCID Dutse for a discreet investigation.
“On interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and the SIM Pack of the number used in calling the complainant was recovered from them.”
