The only human casualty was recorded in the Wuro-Chekke ward of Yola South local government area when a wall fell on the person as a result of the windstorm Tuesday night.

A windstorm struck two adjacent communities in the Yola South area of Adamawa State capital, resulting in the loss of one life and the damage of roofs on several houses.

Daily Post reports on Wednesday that the only human casualty was recorded in the Wuro-Chekke ward of Yola South local government area when a wall fell on the person as a result of the windstorm Tuesday night.

The victim’s name could not be verified but a source was sure that it was a man.

As in Wuro-Cheke, the walls of some houses fell and the roofs of some others were blown off by the strong storm in Mbambam, a neighbouring community to Wuro-Cheke.

Some private houses as well as the staff quarters of Mopol 14 Barracks in Mbambam, were also affected by the windstorm.

Residents lamented that the rainfall which accompanied the storm did not turn out to be so heavy.

There were mixed feelings around Yola on the Tuesday night of the incidents across Yola because although the windstorm and slight rain were causing damage in Wuro-Cheke and Mbambam, the rest of Yola enjoyed the cooling effect of the rain after a particularly hot afternoon and evening.

The weather temperature, which ranged from 42° at its peak around 3pm and 37° by 7pm when the storm and rain occurred, dropped considerably after the rain.
